The gardens that surround our buildings feature herbs, vegetables and flowers. They are arranged as teaching spaces, and for our personal use and pleasure. We grow some crops for commercial seed and eventually hope to save most of our own seed. We grow all of our plant starts (bedding plants and perennial medicinal and culinary herbs), and maintain a small nursery with herb plants for sale.

Insect control is accomplished by huge flocks of migratory and resident birds and careful selection of plant varieties. We grow organically, without the use of synthetic fertilizers, growth regulators, pesticides or herbicides. We have an extensive research library and use it constantly. We read periodicals that are appropriate to our life and business. We make our own herbal medicine and grow our own vegetables year round.
